A few words of thanks…
That’s me. The clown in the picture above. Don’t worry about the other guy in the background. He won’t be joining us…
My name is Enda McGuane, owner of West Coast Cycle Tours. Where I’m from is a source of great pride to me and whenever a friend from Ireland or abroad visits, I’m just as excited as they are to be exploring the Burren’s landscape and the Atlantic seascape again. The people, the food, the sea, the nightlife, the scenery…there really is just so much to choose from!
West Coast Cycle Tours was just a dream floating around in my head for a few years before something told me to just go for it. I’ve always been a lover of the outdoors, whether that’s cycling, running, hiking, surfing or diving…lucky I live where I do then!
As with a lot of things, the final push to go for it and bring the idea to life came after a long conversation late into the night with a close friend, Milo. From there, things have accelerated and begun to take off…we’ve completed renovations, filled out all the forms, designed our routes and had our first guests in August 2014.
Before going any further, a few words of thanks must be said; to my family and friends who have supported me endlessly while I set about building the business – you have been amazing. Thank you for listening to me as I talked endlessly about routes, bikes, tyres, logos and everything else. You have been a fantastic sounding board. I can’t express enough how thankful I am to my graphic designer and website developer, Jeroen Bos of Artvaark Designs. The clean and professional branding and image he has created for the business was exactly what I was looking for. I will be forever indebted to the insanely talented David Olsthoorn. He can capture moments so beautifully and has such a wonderful way with people – he’s destined for greatness in his field! Thanks also to Clair, Martin, Teresa and Brian who posed beautifully! Also I must thank Bank Of Ireland in Ennis who have backed up my idea and helped me with every step, BluePrint Autos for finding the perfect car (eventually!!), CSigns in Ennis for their signage and stickers, Alan for his advice, Damien for his help with the calculator and Tom at Killer Screen Print in Galway for the cool t-shirts. I would like to also thank Ben, Sadie and Conor for their solid advice and encouragement together with so many of the local businesses of the area who have shown me tremendous support. Finally, the people at Failte Ireland have been a pleasure to deal with and are always on hand to answer any questions or advise in any way. Go raibh maith agaibh go léir!
With all that out of the way, I’m very excited to get started and I’m dedicated to making your holiday one that you will never forget! Here’s to summer 2015!
